How a seasonal snow contract works
Snow contractors in Traverse City fill their routes in October and November. When you sign with Global Asphalt before the first storm, we walk your property with you and put the details in writing.
- Trigger depth
- The snowfall that starts a plow visit, agreed per property.
- Priority and timing
- When your lot has to be open, so it is cleared before your doors are.
- Salting and de-icing
- Included with each visit, or on its own schedule.
- Sidewalks and entrances
- Which walkways and doors are on the route.
- Storage and hauling
- Where the piles go, and when they get hauled out.
- Staking
- Curbs, islands, hydrants, drains and wheel stops marked before the ground freezes.
- 24-hour availability
- Overnight, weekend and holiday storms are covered.
- Site walk
- Before the first storm we walk the lot with you and mark the plan on paper.
Two ways to contract
Seasonal flat rate
One price for the whole season, however much it snows.
- Budget certainty in a heavy winter
- Plowing, salting and sidewalks on the agreed trigger
- Suits properties that must open every day: retail, healthcare, offices
Per push
Billed for each plow or salt visit.
- Pay only for the storms you get
- Same trigger depth, same crew, same 24-hour coverage
- Suits lower-traffic lots and lighter winters
Not sure which fits your lot? One call to Global Asphalt settles it.

Why property managers call us
- Serving Northern Michigan since 2010Sixteen Traverse City winters for commercial customers.
- Commercial-grade equipmentOur own plow trucks, salt trucks, loaders, dump trucks and sidewalk machines.
- 24-hour service during the seasonStorms do not keep office hours, and neither do we.
- One contractor for pavement and snowWe pave, repair and stripe parking lots all year, so we plow with the pavement in mind. The same crew patches your pothole in February and sealcoats in June.
Before the snow flies
Plow blades find every open crack and pothole. The repairs you make in October cost far less than the resurfacing you face in April. Four things to do before the first storm:
More reading: ADA compliant snow removal, why salting matters on a commercial lot, and how Michigan winters destroy parking lots.
- Hot rubber crack filling to keep water out of the base through the freeze-thaw season.
- Pothole patching and infrared repair of broken edges and low spots before they freeze.
- Clear the drains and note where water ponds at entrances and walkways. That is where the ice will be.
- Fresh parking lot striping, so accessible spaces and fire lanes are clear when the snow melts. If a pothole opens mid-winter, our winter hot mix lets us patch it in January instead of waiting for spring.
